Mentor/BigBrother/BigSister

Project Description:
There are a number of different mentoring programs that fit different life styles. - There is School Based mentoring which takes place at the school, over lunch or after school. Bigs and Littles can enjoy building a relationship talking over lunch, playing outside after school, working on homework, or participating in an activity together. - Community Based is the most traditional Big Brothers Big Sisters program. Bigs pick up their Littles in this program and spend time out on weekends playing ball, going to the Library, a free Big Brothers Big Sisters event or just enjoying an every day weekend activity. In this program volunteers can mentor along with their spouse or family. - This school year in Dallas County, a new email supported program is being launched. In mentor2.0, the mentoring relationship takes place over email with weekly communications and then one in person visit every six weeks. This program has been designed to help High School students graduate High School and go to College. Opportunties for our Big Brothers Big Sisters traditional School or Community Based program are not limited to Dallas, but exist in all of the DFW area. Mentors are needed on an on going basis. Commitment is for at least one year. In our service area there are about 3000 Littles waiting for a Big. The need for mentors is great!
