JA BizTown Mentor

Project Description:
JA BizTown® features several weeks of in-school curriculum followed by a visit to the Gene B. Glick Junior Achievement Education Center where students (a.k.a. “JA BizTown® citizens”) operate their own businesses and become producers and consumers in their own town. While at JA BizTown®, students experience the circular flow of goods, services and resources within a community as they manage their own checking accounts, seek business loans and make purchases. The students work in teams to operate successful businesses, earn paychecks, pay taxes, consider philanthropic donations, and vote. By sharing personal experiences related to education and careers/jobs, the Mentor offers students a realistic understanding of the economic issues that face citizens in the real world.
